Here’s one for you Pocket PC fans. There’s some software out there called MiniXM which lets you listen to XM on Pocket PC via Internet Explorer. I gave this a small test run on mine and it seems to work great. This would be pretty cool on a Pocket PC phone. I don’t have one so I couldn’t test it there.
Anyways, neat little toy, give it whirl if you have a Pocket PC.
I dont know if anyone has noticed, but the new channel logos XM has posted on the website are pretty darn neat. My fav so far is probably The 60’s. These are much better than the old ones by a long shot. I’m guessing these are out because this is what we’ll be seeing on the new XM2GO units. I found a few of the logos I think are so-s0, X Country and Bluegrass Junction specifically.
What are your favorites?
I got quite a few emails asking me what the heck On The Rocks is. On The Rocks is only available on XMRO on Channel 78. I want to classify it as Retro Lounge music, but its so much more than that. They play everything from Bobby Darin to Xavier Cugat. It used to be available as a regular channel, but XM opted to make it online only. Personally, I love On The Rocks and would love to see it come back as a on non online station as well.
Anyways, for those who asked take a journey over to XM 78, you wont be sorry.
Ryan over @ Orbitcast posted some news about an article written over @ Internet Retailer XM Radio.com is now the #1 Electronic manufacturer site. To put this in perspective when counting unique site visitors XMRadio.com was the #5 site on the internet in the month of December. That my friends is huge. I was hearing alot of people in December saying that XM was taking a back seat due to the Howard Hoopla, well apparently not as much as people my have believed.
This is big in so many different ways. Maybe this will prompt XM to do a redesign !!!! I really cant complain about this though. These numbers can be interpreted so many different ways, but reading something like that gets me very very excited. The bottomline is this is very very good news !!!!
Awesome News, even !!!!!
This has been a phenominal year for the Satellite Radio, especially for XM. XM will have eclipsed 6 million users (that’s speculation but I’ll be very shocked if that doesn’t happen). Here’s my list of things I would love to see XM Radio make happen.
- More BBC Concerts on Deep Tracks
- Bring back On The Rocks, Liquid Metal, and Special X
- Bring DJs to Top Tracks
- XM2G02 Units
- Broadcast IT again
- Get some DJs on XM 8
- Get a Chill Channel
- More new guests on Opie and Anthony
- Better online interface @ XMRO
- xmradio.com to provide RSS content feeds
Those are the things @ the top of my list. Like I said its been a great year for XM Satellite Radio and I really think things will be more exciting in 2006. Happy New Year everyone !!!!
Just a follow up on the Wolfman coming to XM 60’s on 6. XM is now teasing the Wolfman on their home page flash tout. There is a click through to a small paragraph about the show here. I’m really happy to XM hyping this. I just think its really exciting since I don’t remember a whole lot about the wolfman, but he definitely represented an era and Im really happy about XM bringing that to us .
I’ve posted a small XM Survey that I posted. I’ve gotten quite a bit of interesting feedback on it thus far. Please keep the repsonses coming. Ive gotten excellent feedback on it to this point.
I just wanted to also comment on the new XM redesign. I love the attention it gives readers of the site. But the real added bonus in my opinion is the attention that is giving to 2 of my favorite shows…Opie and Anthony are in the rotation on the main page as well as Tom Petty Deep Tracks tout also. I really love what they did to the home page which just used to be a huge mess….nice work XM !!!!!
