By request, I now have 2 OPML feeds. First off you might be asking what is an OPML feed and why would I want one. OPML feeds will allow you just to put one URL in your RSS reader and have all of your feeds right there. The only downside to OPML is the format is not supported on all RSS readers. I’ve tested these feeds on RSS Owl and they work as expected.

As I stated earlier there are 2 feeds. One with the XM Radio Schedule and another with the schedule and my main site feed.

1- XM Radio Schedule & the main site feed - http://www.beyondxm.com/rss/xmschedule/xmsched_main.opml

2- XM Radio Schedule Only - http://www.beyondxm.com/rss/xmschedule/xmschedule.opml

If anyone has any issues accessing these please let me know and a big thanks to Mark for suggesting this.

Just an FYI….I’ve now added XM Kids and XM Comedy to the Schedule Feeds. What Schedule Feeds ????

Go here for more info.

As usual any feedback is more than welcome.

Thanks to everyone who has been looking @ the schedule RSS feed. I had no idea so many of you would be as excited about them as I am. With that said I’m making some minor revisions to the feeds. I was only going to publish music feeds, but the data is available for more channels than I initially realized so Im going to expand the coverage of what data Im grabbing into Sports, Comedy, and News.

With that said as I’m planning development for the next version of these. Is there anything on the XM Radio schedule that you feel I’m not addressing. If not or have any ideas how I can make the feeds better please let me know.

Have you ever wish the XM Radio schedule was a little more organized and accessible ? Well wish no more. I am now offering RSS feeds of the XM Radio schedule. Here are a few questions you may be asking yourself.

Q - Why are you offering this since this info is already on xmradio.com ?

A - I’m doing this because many people cross several people (including myself) love XM Radio content and want to record shows on my XM2Go or listen to certain shows and the way the schedule is laid out on xmradio.com is very hard to follow and this will make it easy.

Q - Why are you only offering feed for regular scheduled programming ?

A - This is just the initial phase. The next thing I’m going to probably be working on will be the NHL games or Special Events depending on the demand from users.

Q - How often will these feeds get updated ?

A - At this point probably every 2-3 days. The process is automatic to update these feeds. The bad part is that I need to trigger the feeds to update. The long and the short of it is that I don’t have the infrastructure to do this. So I have to manually trigger the updates from my local Mac and/or Linux box. Sorry I’m making these feeds available and I post on this site for my love of XM Radio. I simply don’t have the infrastructure to do this any other way. I make no money from this site and probably never will…and that’s just fine with me :)

Q - Why do your feeds take so long to load in my RSS reader ?

A - Blame XM Radio for the vast amount of content they provide to the XM Nation, seriously these feeds have lots of scheduled content that XM offers. The feeds at the moment are just under 100k each. This will probably become bigger over time. I thought about providing an additional feed with a whole weeks worth of content in it. The issue there is that you’d have one huge file. I’ll think about it, if anyone is interested just let me know and I’ll be happy to provide this feed.

Q - I’m a developer, Can I use your feeds in my Application ?

A - Absolutely !!!!! As a matter of fact if you want a custom feed I will be more than happy to create on for you. Just email me

Q - Where can I get these feeds ?

A - Here ya go !!!!!!!!!!

Yes you’re reading the title right. XM did save radio, actually more like resurrected it, well more like brought it back from the dead. There are many people out there who would disagree with me on this, but AM/FM radio has been taking a turn for the worse over the past 25 years or so. For the heck of it I listened to AM radio on my way to work and FM on my home (actually I was in a hurry when I left this morning and left my Airware @ home) . This was actually a good thing though. I almost never listen to AM/FM radio so this was actually a good experience for me.

One of the things I completely forget about XM that I shouldn’t is the commercial free aspect. Not just when it comes to music, but the one thing that kind of sticks out in my head is Opie and Anthony. When they need to take a break its usually when one of them needs to go to the bathroom and when they are gone I’m not listening to some idiotic commercial, its usually a small promo. I actually timed this as I was driving. I sat through 11 minutes of commercial, which in my opinion is just ridiculous. But when you think about it, how else is local radio supposed to pay the bills? That’s their bread and butter I suppose.

Another thing I noticed that I really forgot was so bad is DJ interruption. It really seemed to be constant and oh so annoying. This point is kind of interesting to me in the sense that you hear a lot of people complain about stations like Top Tracks (XM 46) which never has DJ intervention just self promo stuff like once an hour or so. Even on the XM stations such as the decade stations for example you have DJ intervention, but its so little it doesn’t bother me at all. I think the DJ intervention combined with the commercials was about all I can take.

I think my dissatisfaction with AM/FM comes from my exposure to XM. Before I had XM I really didn’t know any better and I suppose I just tolerated what was out there and just sort of excepted what I was getting, which would explain the minimal time I was spending listening to the radio. XM has truly saved all of us from this and in the long run it may force commercial radio to clean up their act, but I’d seriously doubt it, because commercial radio can’t compete with XM. The only thing XM can do is save us all from having to listen to subpar radio. If nothing else that experience taught me one thing and that’s to never ever forget to bring my Airware with me wherever I go.

I just wanted to take the time to thank everyone who took XM survey #1. If you would like to take the survey still please feel free to do so by clicking here. I will provide updates to the survey as long as people are willing to take it.

I also want to quantify that on the fill in the blank questions I tried to lump these into catagories as best I can.I’m curious to hear some analysis on the results as well.

I’ve written a small article about XM Radio has changed my life. I’d love to hear comments on this. It was too long for a post so the article is here. I’d love to hear some comments on it good or bad.

I’ve posted a small XM Survey that I posted. I’ve gotten quite a bit of interesting feedback on it thus far. Please keep the repsonses coming. Ive gotten excellent feedback on it to this point.

I just wanted to also comment on the new XM redesign. I love the attention it gives readers of the site. But the real added bonus in my opinion is the attention that is giving to 2 of my favorite shows…Opie and Anthony are in the rotation on the main page as well as Tom Petty Deep Tracks tout also. I really love what they did to the home page which just used to be a huge mess….nice work XM !!!!!
