I’ve been spending quite a bit of time the best few days hanging out primarily on the decade stations on XM. I did this intentionally because I wanted to determine which stations I feel are the best and worst programmed. The worst programmed station on the decades side has got to be the 80’s on 8. There is no cohesiveness to the programming. It’s just kind of all over the place. I used to enjoy the 80’s on 8 alot more when it had DJ’s but it really lacks structure. I would also love to see Casey Kasem who was supposedly coming to the 70’s and 80’s. This was merely a rumor so I fault XM Radio in no way…just wishful thinking on my part
The best programmed decade station on the XM dial has got to be the 60’s on 6. I have really enjoyed the programming a lot the past few days. I’m not a huge 60’s fan, but the 60’s on 6 is turning me into a 60’s fan. One listen to the Sweet 16 machine and Wolfman Jack back to back @ 8 PM ET. The programming overall just gels so well. I really need to listen to the 60’s on 6 more often. The way the station flows is just so nice. The shows have distinct themes, but the way it all comes together is so nice. I really need to do a separate post on this, but the 60’s on 6 is a channel that should be checked out even if you dont like 60’s music. They really know how to do it right.
