XM Radio has a schedule of events for black history month located here. Some very interesting shows coming up on there. The History of Motown is particularly intriguing to me as well as Quincy Jones RNBQ. But there’s really something for everyone there. Make sure and check it out.
Ryan over @ Orbitcast posted some news about an article written over @ Internet Retailer XM Radio.com is now the #1 Electronic manufacturer site. To put this in perspective when counting unique site visitors XMRadio.com was the #5 site on the internet in the month of December. That my friends is huge. I was hearing alot of people in December saying that XM was taking a back seat due to the Howard Hoopla, well apparently not as much as people my have believed.
This is big in so many different ways. Maybe this will prompt XM to do a redesign !!!! I really cant complain about this though. These numbers can be interpreted so many different ways, but reading something like that gets me very very excited. The bottomline is this is very very good news !!!!
Awesome News, even !!!!!
I had heard rumors of this during the Deep Tracks Essential 5002, but now its offical the King Biscuit Flower Hour is now on XM Radio. I’m sooo excited about this one. There were so many good concerts on there during the 70’s and 80’s. I remember one specific concert I heard in the 80’s by the supergroup HSAS (Hagar,Schon, Aaronson,Shrieve) amongst so many others. I missed the 1st one which was today, but thats ok because we’re getting the KBFH 3 days a week.
Monday: 3:00 PM
Tuesday: 9:00 PM
Saturday: Midnight
All times are eastern. Nice add for Deep Tracks !!!!!

Thanks to everyone who has been looking @ the schedule RSS feed. I had no idea so many of you would be as excited about them as I am. With that said I’m making some minor revisions to the feeds. I was only going to publish music feeds, but the data is available for more channels than I initially realized so Im going to expand the coverage of what data Im grabbing into Sports, Comedy, and News.
With that said as I’m planning development for the next version of these. Is there anything on the XM Radio schedule that you feel I’m not addressing. If not or have any ideas how I can make the feeds better please let me know.
For any of you (especially you pests out there) who have been listening to O and A this week might be interested in this article that talks about the adventures of Stalker Patty and the mouse trap this week. When I heard this I was absolutely rollin’. Apparently this is getting some pretty big press.
Stuff like this is just gold as far as spreading the virus goes. I hope the boys dont end up running this one into the ground. Although it doesnt look like they will since tommorrow’s show sounds entertaining when they are doing an American Idol paraody which the boys are calling American Mess. Got a feeling its gonna be winner.
Worldspace Satellite Radio news seems to be popping up alot more lately. They have now jumped over 115k users. The press release is here. I’m still waiting to hear from someone who has this service. I find Worldspace kind of intriguing. I expect their numbers to keep climbing. The content doesnt look as deep as XMs, but they seem to be holding their own.
Again I’d love to hear from someone who subscribes to Worldspace
Have you ever wish the XM Radio schedule was a little more organized and accessible ? Well wish no more. I am now offering RSS feeds of the XM Radio schedule. Here are a few questions you may be asking yourself.
Q - Why are you offering this since this info is already on xmradio.com ?
A - I’m doing this because many people cross several people (including myself) love XM Radio content and want to record shows on my XM2Go or listen to certain shows and the way the schedule is laid out on xmradio.com is very hard to follow and this will make it easy.
Q - Why are you only offering feed for regular scheduled programming ?
A - This is just the initial phase. The next thing I’m going to probably be working on will be the NHL games or Special Events depending on the demand from users.
Q - How often will these feeds get updated ?
A - At this point probably every 2-3 days. The process is automatic to update these feeds. The bad part is that I need to trigger the feeds to update. The long and the short of it is that I don’t have the infrastructure to do this. So I have to manually trigger the updates from my local Mac and/or Linux box. Sorry I’m making these feeds available and I post on this site for my love of XM Radio. I simply don’t have the infrastructure to do this any other way. I make no money from this site and probably never will…and that’s just fine with me
Q - Why do your feeds take so long to load in my RSS reader ?
A - Blame XM Radio for the vast amount of content they provide to the XM Nation, seriously these feeds have lots of scheduled content that XM offers. The feeds at the moment are just under 100k each. This will probably become bigger over time. I thought about providing an additional feed with a whole weeks worth of content in it. The issue there is that you’d have one huge file. I’ll think about it, if anyone is interested just let me know and I’ll be happy to provide this feed.
Q - I’m a developer, Can I use your feeds in my Application ?
A - Absolutely !!!!! As a matter of fact if you want a custom feed I will be more than happy to create on for you. Just email me
Q - Where can I get these feeds ?
A - Here ya go !!!!!!!!!!

Ummm…ok this is an interesting new addition to XMs MLB coverage. It’s not Tim Russert though it’s his son Luke. The idea for this came through some heated exchanges between Carville and Russert during some Washington Nationals games. Press Release is here.
I’m semi-excited about this. I don’t agree with Carville alot of the time politically, however he does add a certain entertainment factor to anything he talks about, but what does he know about baseball ? Well I guess we’ll find out soon enough. I’m on the fence about this, but I think it will make for some interesting radio over on Home Plate. I’ll definitely be listening….could be fun !!!!!
That’s sure an interesting question. I have several responses to that one recently I’ve ventured out of the norm, to try to expand my musical horizons and all that. I’ve found a few stations I thought I would never find my normally listening:
X Country Channel 12 - When you see that you’re thinking…mmmm ok Country music. Well it’s almost not Country in a way its just good clean jammin’ music with a Country tinge. I guess the term Progrsssive Country really applies
Soul Street Channel 60 - I’ve recently stumbled upon this after Terry Motormouth Young plugged this station during his show lately on the 60’s on XM 6. Soul Street captures some of the best music recorded in the 60’s. They have a very big focus on the Motown sound. I’ve heard alot of music and artists I never heard of before. It’s made me realize how important that era of music is. Most of this music was initially recorded before I was born, but definitely check it out. The station is very ipod like if you know what I mean
